Appearing as a bandleader on the New York CIty and international Jazz and creative music scene for over
a decade. From festivals and venues in France and Sweden to regular concerts on the East Coast USA and
local NYC Jazz scene. As well in collaborations and shared concert events in mainstream and avant Jazz
to soul, electro and drum n bass, with some of the most world's foremost improvisers, Sten Hostfalt
has earned a reputation as one of the most innovative guitarists/composers/bandleaders in music today.
Documented by enthusiastic press response including'Impressive and Intense' by TIME OUT NEW YORK,
'Inimitable' by PAPER MAGAZINE. 'Groundbreaking' by JAZZ REVIEW. And a GUITAR PLAYER's 'Editor's Pick'.

Sten Hostfalt's original lineups is built on proudly pronouncing and carrying it's mentors creative legacy.

STEN HOSTFALT's 3 or 4 is the most current incarnation of an original lineup that have
operated internationally, on the US East Coast and NYC scene since the early 90's under a number of
names including Sten Hostfalt Quartet/Trio, as well as more recently, for the past 6 years frequently
heard on the NYC Jazz and Improvised music scene as Soft Value, Ghost Factor, G-Factor or K-MOD.
Described as "Inimitable" by PM NYC / Paper Magazine and "Impressive, Intense" by TIME OUT NY
Current lineups includes bassists Tim Luntzel and Shayna Dulberger, drummers Marko Djordjevic and
Dave Miller and saxophonists Ole Mathisen or Matt Renzi. While past incarnations have hosted bassists
Masa Kamaguch, Matthew Garrison and Matt Pavolka, drummers Jimmy Weinstein, Blake Lindberg and
Cyril Atef, vibraphonist Tom Beckham, saxophonist Seamus Blake and trumpet player Takuya Nakamura.

BLAISE SIWULA / STEN HOSTFALT is a duo formation with saxophonist
Blaise Siwula,
that
highly active
in over 40 live concert events ever since
December 2008 and grown out of both players
long-time active involvement in the improvised community and in particular NYC's downtown avant-garde
Jazzscene, has seen creative collaborations and shared events with over a hundred improvisers, including

STEN HOSTFALT SOLO as manifested on the two live concert solo CD's
29 Pieces for The Microtonal Guitar Live at Knitting Factory (2002) and Macroscope (2006)
and involving self-invented guitar techniques along with electronics and prepared techniques,
is a direct result of microtonal music studies with the late saxophonist/composer Joe Maneri.
Subsequent duo collaborations in Philadelphia, Boston and NYC with Katt Hernandez, Bruno
Raberg
and Melissa Kassell, and shared events with Mike Rivard's Club D'Elf and Dave Tronzo
have as of late infuenced aspects of this project with Sten Hostfalt's more traditional lineups.

CURRENT SIDESHOWS In addition to work as a leader / co-leader, Sten Hostfalt
currently appears as a sideman in a number of creative NYC projects and lineups including as
an electric bass guitar playerin Collin Palmer's electronica project CALMER. Also with some kind
of regularity as a bassist and guitarist
in Branislav Andonov's Gypsy music extravaganza band
BATO THE YUGO & GYPSY BOOGIE, as well as in virtuoso drummer Marko Djordjevic's Jazz
Fusion group SVETI. As a mandolinist, Sten Hostfalt has appeared with Blaise Siwula's
Awkward Bill since 2009, as well as with among others pianist Trudy Silver's ensemble.
